NEWARK, NJ – High school boys can get an edge in scoring and defending for the coming season at the
Finishing and Goalkeeping Clinic conducted by the Rutgers-Newark soccer staff on August 2 – 6 on Alumni Field.
The two-hour sessions begin at 6 p.m. daily with two-time All-American Fredy Guiran, now a Scarlet Raider assistant coach, directing the development of finishing skills while Rutgers-Newark head men's soccer coach
Kevin East, the MVP of the 1992 NCAA Division III Final Four while a teammate of Guiran's at Kean, will give comprehensive goalkeeper instruction.
The finishing clinic will provided drills and practice in scoring in low and high pressure situations, from angles and different types of service, combination play and off of free kicks. Every session will end in small-sided games to goal.
The goalkeeper clinic will cover technique and footwork as well as ball handling, box control, distribution, breakaway defense and shot stopping. Each session will end in small-sided games to goal.
The clinic fee is $120.
