NEW YORK – Freshman Nicole Miklas clipped more than eight seconds off of her one-week old school record in the 3000-meter run to highlight Rutgers-Newark's performance in the Gotham Cup in the New York City Armory.

Miklas clocked an 11:33.40 in the 3000 to lower the mark she set last Friday on the same track in the Metro Coaches Invitational.  Her “old” standard was 11:41.53.  She placed 37th in a highly-competitive field of 41 runners.

Freshmen LaSha Johnson clocked an 8.50-second 60-meter dash time and ran a 65.55 in the 400-meter dash.  Also competing for the Scarlet Raiders was freshman Jane Cho, who finished in a time of 6:31.34 in the mile run.

Rutgers-Newark will compete in the Collegeville Classic at Ursinus College on Friday.
