NEWARK, NJ – Senior William Cheung and junior Elijah Kim led Rutgers-Newark to a 6-3 win over Bloomfield College on The Golden Dome Courts.
 
After each player swept his singles match, they combined for an 8-0 victory over the Deacons' Steven Hobart and Peter Beckford to help boost the Scarlet Raiders (1-5) to their first win of the season.
 
Cheung downed Beckford, 6-2, 6-1, on the No. 3 singles court while Kim downed Morgan Lebeurre, 6-1, 6-4, on the fourth flight.
 
Senior Ray Postadan shut out sophomore Shimarhi Shuler, 6-0, 6-0, on the top-flight as the Raiders took five of the singles matches to notch the win over Bloomfield (0-7).
 
Rookie Youssef Rizk routed Hobart, 6-0, 6-2, on the No. 5 court while classmate Benjamin Lioue stopped Jonathon Walters, 6-0, 6-4, on the sixth court.
 
Rutgers-Newark hosts FDU-Florham on Thursday at 5 p.m. on The Golden Dome Courts.
