BILL ZASOWSKI / Associate Head Coach
In his second tour of duty at Rutgers-Newark, Bill Zasowski is the common thread in the unprecedented success of the Scarlet Raider program under Joe Loughran. He was elevated to the position of Associate Head Coach in October of 2008.
The Kean University graduate first joined Loughran’s staff in June of 2002, helping recruit and tutor the foundation for the Scarlet Raiders’ four straight winning seasons and three straight post-season berths in the New Jersey Athletic Conference and the ECAC.
In 2005-06, the young mentor guided Ocean County College to a 20-9 record and a Garden State Athletic Conference championship in his first head coaching experience. He garnered Region 19 Coach of the Year honors from his junior college peers.
Zasowski developed a love for the game at perennial power St. Anthony’s High School in Jersey City. He learned the game from legendary coach Bob Hurley, participating in the Friars’ program from 1991 to 1995.
He played at Ocean County College from 1996 through 1998, earning his associate in arts degree in the process.
While a student at Kean, Zasowski began his coaching career in 1998 as the head freshman and assistant varsity coach at Marist High School in his hometown of Bayonne. He received his bachelor of arts in physical education from Kean in 2000.
KURT VILLANI / Assistant Coach
Beginning histhird season as a Rutgers-Newark assistant coach, Kurt Villani latched onto a slot on Joe Loughran’s staff after just one season as an assistant varsity coach and freshman head coach at Belleville High School.
Villani earned a degree in physical education and health from Montclair State in 2008.
At Keene High School, Adams was a team captain and offensive MVP as a senior to cap a four-year scholastic career.
The Chesterfield, N.H., native earned his bachelor of art degree in history from Keene State in 2007.
